What is a Scarecrow stroll?
It’s a fun, festive fall event when Scarecrows created by community members, businesses, schools and organizations are on display in Kearny along Kearny and Midland Avenues! Visitors can stroll the avenues and vote for their favorites!
Who can create a Scarecrow?
Any Kearny resident, business, school group, organization or sports team! Your Scarecrow team must have a representative that is 18 or older.
Is there any cost to participate?
No! Registration is free and happening now through October 2. Register here (hyperlink) on this website! Scarecrows must be ready to install the weekend of October 10 – 12.
Do I have to install my own Scarecrow?
Yes. You will be provided with a participant package (see Rules) the weekend of October 10-12 which will contain your assigned pole, some supplies and tips on how to hang your Scarecrow, and your unique Scarecrow voting card with a QR code to display! You are also responsible for removing your Scarecrow once the event is over (November 1-3).
Can I pick the pole I want for my Scarecrow?
No. Poles will be randomly assigned. However, if you are a Kearny business along Kearny and Midland Aves, we will try and have your Scarecrow nearby your business.
How does the public vote for their favorite Scarecrow?
Each Scarecrow will have a unique QR code that will be on display with the Scarecrow. Visitors can scan and vote while walking the Avenues, or people can visit this website to vote online.
When will winners be announced?
On or about November 3, winners will be announced on the KUEZ Instagram and Facebook pages. So be sure to follow us to stay up to date!
